Is the backhand serve a legal serve. The serve is done below the waist which gives a lot of spin. Please give ans. Thanks Bob

Why don’t you teach to lift straight up and slightly forward with your paddle? By slicing upwards top spin is created. I have seen players do this and put much more top spin on the ball than you are getting. The serve is very difficult to return for a novice.

Can you review the position of players receiving and serving for doubles? Thanks

Love this video… so helpful for players to know that they have options for serves.

Nice video with great explanation on service strategy. I am trying to be a PB coach and your videos are perfect adjuncts to our drills.

During quarantine my neighborhood got into pickleball so if I could master the power serve I’d probably be the best player here since I’m already pretty decent at the soft high one

Look, I’ve played competitive Tennis, Badminton and Table Tennis (ping pong) and now Pickleball. Despite its goofy name (alright, funny name) it can be challenging when you play some of the good players. If you don’t give it enough credit going in you will when you’re done. That’s a promise!People used to snicker at Badminton until I intervened. Now Tennis, Pickleball and T/T players who are good at those really respect the ‘birdie’ and call it a shuttle (for short) or shuttlecock. They are overawed by the stamina it takes to play the variety it commands just for one point with a 20 or 30 shot rally. Oh yeah, top players do more rallies at times. Reality finally sinks in and they’re totally exhausted. Fun while it lasts though. Hope someone gets my drift. It’s whatever level you take PB to. It can be humbling depending on who you’re playing.

I like that strategy against side stacking

I have invented a serve that is arguably more effective than any of these serves, at least at lower levels of the game. (although mixing serves up is important). The serve came naturally to me from a tennis stroke I use. I will try to make a video of it and post it…right now, I’m sick…LOL…it’s basically a sidespin serve, but also can have slice or topspin involved. I don’t miss the serve anymore than anyone else.

I have my wicked spin serve that give me aces against my opponents. I love using it to highlight to end the game.

Jennifer can give me private lessons anytime.

All these years I have used only the power seve. I can see why the other seves can be effective. Great video.

Great tips. We highlighted your video in the Pickleball Portal at SSN Satellite Sports Network

    what about sliced serve?

  17. Joe Marshall on December 23, 2021 at 1:02 am

In the first demonstration, it seemed that the server hit the high deep serve above her waist…it was pretty close, anyway…..

  18. VL Finalist on December 23, 2021 at 1:02 am

I know all these servers except the 3rd one It’s hard to do for me

  19. Johnathan Ramey on December 23, 2021 at 1:08 am

Demonstration of serves starts at 0:59.

  20. B. Mason on December 23, 2021 at 1:12 am

The first 2 — the server is clearly tossing the ball. Not much but they are. On every serve. I get called & faulted a point on this at many levels. Why do top players get away with it? Rule 1: no tossing or throwing!
