The New Balance Fresh Foam LAV is a speed and durability focused tennis shoe but can it prove its muscle in the signature tennis shoe performance review and teardown featuring the Tennis Pro Doc playtest, teardown, infrared test, serve test suicide test, and durability tests?

This review focuses on the NB Fresh Foam LAV on court performance as well as engineering and mechanics during the teardown and durability test portions of this tennis shoe review

This New Balance Fresh Foam LAV performance review, playtest, and durability test takes a deep look into the shoes design, performance, tech, pros and cons, mechanics, durability and on-court feel.

As a foot doctor I look at tennis shoes and tennis shoe technology a bit differently as I focus more on what foot types benefit from these shoes as well as the tennis shoe’s functional attributes on the tennis court

Tennis shoe playtests are a great way to experience the tennis shoe in a real life scenario and give much more useful information as to the playability and feel.

Some of the main areas we cover in this New Balance Fresh Foam LAV tennis shoe play test, tear down and performance review were:

– The weight of the New Balance Fresh Foam LAV
– Durability features of the New Balance Fresh Foam LAV tennis shoe
– Breathability and upper materials of the New Balance Fresh Foam LAV
– What foot types are good for the New Balance Fresh Foam LAV
– How does the New Balance Fresh Foam LAV play on the tennis court right out of the box
– How does the construction of the New Balance Fresh Foam LAV tennis shoe affect its performance on the tennis court
– What are the features of the insole, midsole, and outsole of the New Balance Fresh Foam LAV and how do they compliment the tennis player
– New Balance tennis shoe engineering and technology explained
– How the shank, midsole outsole work together + New Balance Fresh Foam LAV specs, heel height, heel to toe drop, and tread thickness

After seeing the stain on the left insole, I wonder if you have any video related to shoe-sizing for tennis? I’m not sure how much space should be available in front of the big toes… and how tight it should be to know that it will be stable enough for the actual game?

Hai, does this shoe also suitable to use for other indoor sports like badminton? Does the outsole pattern will offer enough traction lets say on vinyl or wood or cement floor?

Hey Doc, what do you think of these for outdoor basketball?

  7. Jaime Ponton on August 12, 2021 at 9:59 pm

I had these shoes and I agree with everything except for the breathability; maybe it was my socks but for some reason these would always get so hot and burn the hell out of my feet. Ended up selling them, but overall great shoe. Great video as always! Definitely the best tennis shoe channel on Youtube.

Amazing detailed review. This shoe is my favorite so far in extra wide and I have used 6-7 pairs of them already.

  22. Devin Blackburn on August 12, 2021 at 10:31 pm

For someone looking for a shoe with good ankle support and decent cushioning, would you recommend these or the Adidas Stycon? Thank you

  23. Александар Ж on August 12, 2021 at 10:33 pm

I could be a bit late…but Lav means Lion in serbian, which is a nickname given to Milos by his grandad…its pronounced shorter, same as english word "Love"..

Anyway…will buy these when I get the chance

Hey Doc, I haven’t had a chance to get my hands on all these newer model shoes since Covid. My search for the best supportive and comfortable shoe has been disappointing dating all the way back to the discontinuation of the Nike Air Court ballistec line. That was the best shoe line IMO. I coach on my feet about 20 hours a week. Any recommendations? I have been looking at the LAV, gel resolution 8’s, and gp turbos. Thanks!

  25. Marek Denisiuk on August 12, 2021 at 10:37 pm

Finding tennis shoes that fit has always been an ordeal given my wide foot, but these have been amazing. Very comfortable and supportive.

Your channel is really helpful and informative, by the way! Looking forward to more of your videos.

Great video doc, love the bloopers..

  27. William Boyd on August 12, 2021 at 10:44 pm

Thanks, good review, was hoping you’d do the Lav. I’m starting to get a bit of heel bang in mine after 12 months (playing once or twice a week – less covid downtime) – switch to sole court boost or just buy another pair?
