Improve Your First Three Shots in Pickleball | Skills and Drills

The first three shots in a pickleball match can set you up to win if done well. Watch this video to see how this simple drill can really help you understand what to do for each of the three shots that start the game – the serve, the return of serve and the third shot drop. It’s a fun game with points that you can play to help improve your accuracy! This is a great drill developed by Phil Dunmeyer, pickleball ambassador from Tustin, CA, and a well respected leader among pickleball players. Watch it today!

If I’ve got four people, we’re not doing drills. Period.

Six of us tried this drill game at our Tustin courts. We rotated in teams. We are lucky to have Coach Phil at our courts on a regular basis, so he helped us with the games. I have to say, it was a humbling exercise. Didn’t realize how lazy my return shot had become (falling short). This game really enforces the deep return. If you miss it, your turn is over and your team cannot win additional points. Thanks to Coach Phil for all his contributions to the sport of Pickleball!
