How to overgrip your paddle

How to overgrip your paddle

In this video we show you how to wrap an overgrip onto your paddle. The overgrip goes over the manufacturer installed grip. It will help protect the original grip as well as help against slippage on the paddle from sweat. Much less expensive to change out overgrips than to change out the original grip.

I’m just getting into pickleball… I’ve played tennis for 20 years and am to the point that I can play with either hand, but I like overgrip because it seems to work better with both hands. I can serve righty or lefty, and everything else just feels the same to me. Is overgrip for pickleball the same sort of thing?

Thanks for wrapping the grip for a lefty. This was helpful.

I’m confused about right hand grip and left hand. I use both hands to play. I didn’t even know there was a difference until I grabbed my paddle and could see it was gripped for a right handed person. I used my right hand about 60% and the left hand about 40% plus I serve left handed. Is there a good way to grip the paddle so I can easily switch hands?

I thought it was a video about scissors! 😀

The transparent protective film is identical on my gripping tape, and the stickiness is the same on both sides. So I think one can decide how to start on the tapered end. If I orient it with the inclined part on the end, then the tape is already inclined to spiral around correctly, without making a bump, where you found you had a bump. Try it, it works!
