Gearbox CP7 Pickleball Paddle Review

Gearbox CP7 Pickleball Paddle Review

Read my full review of the Gearbox CP7 7.8 oz and 8.5 oz paddles at

Gearbox has a strong presence in the pickleball community and is known for its innovative and unconventional approach to making performance level paddles. Their original collection of carbon fiber paddles are unique to Gearbox and loved by lots of players. However, their new CP7 paddle doesn’t use Gearbox’s carbon fiber design and is their first foray into poly core paddles.

There is a lot of buzz around Gearbox’s new CP7 paddles so I was really excited to get them to test and review. Plus, they sell for a very palatable price of $100, which is nice to see since premium level paddle prices seem to keep climbing higher each year.

The next paddle I was looking into! Ha and you have a video for it, thanks for that! So with the Power Vanguard situation on hold until the new ones come out this month, if you can remember, is the thickness of the CP7 Drastically more than the slimmer Power Vanguard? Or just a little? How does the thickness compare to say like.. the Hybrid Vanguard/Amped Selkirk series?
I currently have been using a GX6 for the last year and I love it a lot, more so than all the other paddles I’ve tried (and that number is becoming quite the handful) but I feel like it’s missing something for me personally and I am not sure what that is 🤔 Maybe the CP7 can solve this riddle for me since I didn’t get more than a day with the Power Vanguard Invikta before it started rattling and I sent it back

Great review.. appreciated the commentary while in the field. How did this compare to the GX6 Control or Power?

Also, how large was the sweet spot compared to those and compared to honeycomb paddles?

Have you tried the Gearbox GX6 paddles? If so,how would you compare them with the CP7?

Great review. Would you say this is an upgrade from the Paddletek Bantam?
