GREAT match. 35:12 Big foot fault on Erne by Jansen. This is why two refs are needed at every medal match. Are they not available? Or does USA Pickleball not want two refs during medal matches? 1:07:28 IMO, Jansen saw the ball in, waited to see what her partner said, and went w/ his decision instead of calling it in. JMO. 1:36:14 IMO, the ball was in (frame-by-frame). This is why I’m not a big fan of Jensen, not a great sportswoman, and after watching her many times, winning is everything to her (just saw the end of the match… Yep). But, JMO. A lot of chatter during live play is very unusual for these announcers. It could be because you were caged in like animals, at least that’s what it looks like. 😉

I watched the last shot several times and it looked out every time so I’m not seeing something

The overhead smash that Zane missed at 10-9-2 on the 3rd game was unbelievable, but I am glad they got gold at the end, after an amazing comeback. Zane is the most charismatic player out there.

I understand frustration but Jansen throwing a fit and throwing her paddle multiple times is completely childish. "Professional" athlete.

WOW! Hell of a match! Matches like that are FEW… oh, and FAR BETWEEN.

AMAZING!!! One of the greatest contests ever. So close in every game. Some of the drop shots were so good and almost seemed lost in the heat of the exchanges.

I’m new to pickle ball so there’s probably multiple strategies going over my head here, but why was Koop hitting such mediocre and lackadaisical serves over and over? Honestly, most people put a little more effort and force into hitting the ball over the net while practicing than she did in a gold medal match on her serves. Why was she returning so many shots high where they could be smashed?

Why did Navratil pick her for his partner when it seemed like she was making about 80% of their errors and only contributing about 10% of the points they won? She definitely watched a couple of shots go by without trying to get to them when Jansen, who is much more fit, would’ve at least tried.

EDIT: ok, the above comment was made after game two and Koop clearly picked up her game in the latter two games and Navratil started looking gassed and made a lot more UFEs as the match went on. But still, Koop kept repeatedly lifting the ball and serving neither deep nor with any spin or pace.

Kitchen violation at 35:12. You had one job ref 😉
