The hard part of change is when you play, you are out there to practice your new shots/thought pattern and not hit the old comfortable loser shot (blasphemy for some). Keep track of your unforced errors not the score, low unforced errors you always are a winner regardless of the score.

Full stop vs dynamic stability. Here is a blog from Sarah that tells about the difference. "What we want to remember is good things happen when we move forward. It enables us to get our body behind the ball. We move through our shots, which brings the ball down and allows you to get to the net.

pickleball drillsOften players say they need to stop to hit the ball. Well, there is a difference between a full stop and dynamic stability. The reason you step to the ball is to create weight transfer. It is your stance that helps you move through the ball. If you focus on stopping to hit the ball, you often get stuck which will result in popping the ball up.

At the other end of the spectrum, I find students charging the net at full speed. This is not necessary. I always want to be closing but I also always need three things so the player remains stable and ready:

    Paddle in front
    Ball in front
    Court in front"

Had multiple NVZ faults during “dink” rally!?!?!

  12. Matt Cunningham on May 12, 2021 at 12:25 am

Great presentation and delivery of really useful tips. Well done Jordan et al.

  13. Alice Shrader on May 12, 2021 at 12:26 am

Yes, I agree to not hit on the run, but when they ar hitting shots down the line or short corner shots, it’s hard to stop and get ‘into position’.

    Thank you

  16. Anthony Hentz on May 12, 2021 at 12:30 am

Oh gosh, this video has helped me realize all the mistakes that I’ve been making.

  17. Robert VK on May 12, 2021 at 12:32 am

#1 Stay up at NVZ line… don’t drift back for no reason.
#2 Get set before you hit.
    #3 Be smart, not fancy.

  18. Gary Jones on May 12, 2021 at 12:37 am

One of my biggest errors I make is hitting the ball on the run; thanks for the reminder to STOP..Good job

  19. Chip Litchfield on May 12, 2021 at 12:40 am

Much better Jordan, to the point and my play showing 👍👍

  20. Jim Kazmarek on May 12, 2021 at 12:42 am

Run fast to the ball then hit slow.  #2 is critical to learn and practice.

  21. john lauby on May 12, 2021 at 12:48 am

How do you hit an unattackable dink ? The group I play with can attack anytime a ball is knee high to waist high?

  22. Lance Levens on May 12, 2021 at 12:49 am

Great job, Jordan. #3 was meant for me because I still hit too hard. Thanks, again.

  23. Jane Cerullo on May 12, 2021 at 12:51 am

Love your videos but truthfully I don’t have time to think about anything. I just try to hit the ball. Any hope for me?

  24. Grace on May 12, 2021 at 12:55 am

I have to work on hitting the ball in front of me, stopping before I hit, keep my weight moving forward, staying at NVZ – OMG, like I need to work on it all ! 😂
